I, George W. Jackson, do hereby agree with and promise Stephen S Thorne Esq.r Chairman of the Board of Works, to build one or two (as may be required) Boats for service at Sable Island, as nearly as I possibly can, like the Boat brought from Sable Island and loaned to me as a pattern or model to build by. Said Boat or Boats that I will build to have two more timbers on each side forward two more timbers on each side aft and one more Breast Hook than are now in the pattern or model Boat. And shall be planked with thoroughly seasoned Pine Boards not less than one half of an inch in thickness free from rot _ Knots _ Splits [or? &?] Shakes _ and shall be timbered with sound Oak timbers, and shall be thoroughly & sufficiently fastened inside & outside with [underlined: all] copper fastening, nails _ Bolts &c And shall be thoroughly painted inside & outside _ with two coats of best white paint, and shall be handed over to the said Chairman of the Board of Works, or his agent on or before the tenth day of Sept.r in this present Year 1857, finished completely _ and in a workmanlike manner _ and to his satisfaction for the sum of Twenty eight pounds five Shillings (£28..5-0) NS Cy
