Sable Island 15th June 1854

Dear Sir

We are now loading the "Alice" and hope to send her away tonight. The Brig.t and ^remainder of Cargo had better be sold at once and 40 days should be allowed the purchasers of the cargo to remove it. The "East Boston" lies in against the beach stern to the North West her lower masts are standing but the heads are cut away, her Bowsprit is standing with gear complete, her windlass and wench [sic] are complete with tackle save for taking out cargo her rudder is unhung and braces broken, her stern post is started and she is considerably strained, and is full of water to the top of the lower deck beams. You will be safe in giving £10 for her, and it would be better to give £20 for her than to allow an unknown party to purchase. It should be understood that the purchasers of the cargo are to have the
use of the wench at taking the cargo out. The mens wreck money at her will amount to about £15. Please remember my commissions on the [underlined: amt sales,] and if Cap.n Doane did not pay you or Mr. Yeomans £4 for me for making his Protest please stop that sum when settling accts. Cap.n [Quin?] asked me to send him a statement of the condition of the East Boston when I make the last shipment [^of cargo], and I promised to do so, but I have since thought that it would be better for him to get from you a copy of my statement of her condition &c &c

Arch.d McIsaac who got hurt a few weeks ago will have to go off in the Daring the first time she comes to the Island, he is in a very miserable way but as he is loath to leave the Island I thought it best to let him stop as long as Dr Gilpin remains. If all is well with us when the Doctor leaves
I
