got away from us again on the 3rd of this month, yet he looks remarkably well, and he was a very kind creature when in the stable.

I agreed to all Farquhar 20/. per month for his eldest son, commencing on the 1st January last. He does not wish you to pay it to Mr Moren, but pay to his (Farquhars) order.

I now forward a list of such things as are required for house building and wish to have them as soon as possible that we may begin at once.

April 15th

The Daring arrived last evening and will leave again as soon as we get Jackson and family onboard. John Himmelman's time is within a few days of being up and being very anxious to get to his family I allow him to go now. and John Humphry wishes to go off next time so I shall want two men in their places. I wish them to be young active [underlined: Boatmen]. Since writing on the 27th Ult we have found two more barrels of pork but the barrels were broken and the pork injured. I have packed it into other barrels and now send it off, but the good barrel I keep for the use of the Island, and I have thought it best to keep all the flour, what is dry we will use and the wet will do for the pigs. I have the frame for a house at the foot of the lake dressed and taken to the spot. I have calculated it to be 33 feet by 24, and 10 feet post in front and six in the back. and I have the frame for a Barn at the South side nearly all dressed, 30 feet by 20 and 11 feet post. And the vegetable house 16 feet by 12 is more than half built. If you can send me the Materials wanted [^at once] and an extra hand say Gasper Graham. I will do all that I can towards getting those buildings up in good season. I am satisfied with the way in which you divide the money allowed the men for their losses by the fire.
