Boston 2 Dec 1853

Dear Sir,

Herewith I have the pleasure to hand you Bill Lading for a Life Boat shipped by order of Miss D.L. Dix for Sable Island & named at her suggestion the "Victoria".

I also enclose a particular description of the boat to serve for the government of the men who will have the care of her.

Trusting that this Boat may do honor to her name & be the means of saving life & to have the pleasure of visiting Sable Island next Spring I am,
