to return to the Island at £4 per month until November provided you have no objections. and I think you had better send me a Blacksmith for the same length of time even if you should have to pay him high wages. And I want an ordinary man also either for a year or till November. Our gang is so light and work so heavy that we are nearly used up.

You mention that the trip to the Island for the Sailors proves rather an expensive affair. If I had not felt the necessity for taking the measures I did for their removal I would not have done so, and I used extra exertions to save property from the ship sufficient to cover all expenses under the impression that the property saved from her would be liable for all expense in any way incurred in connexion with her. And I will feel much obliged if in your next you will inform me from what fund the expenses of sending the "Planet" to Halifax and the "Jarius Hart" to the Island was paid. I did not get my usual supply of newspapers by Mr Lyle but understand that some slanderous scribbles have accused me in the public print of having unnecessarily put the Province to great expense. When I see what has been written I shall reply to it if I consider it worthy of notice.

If you send the "Jarius Hart" back please send the flour &c previously written for, also the articles now sent for. The flour you sent last September was most excellent but what you have sent this season
