given Capn Clark an order on you for payment of articles kept by me for the use of the establishment. I would have kept the Pork and Beef now sent by the Daring but think that Capn Clark expects more for it than it will fetch at Halifax. You can send it back if it does not sell too high. The beef is the same quality as the crew objected to using on the Island. I gave Lieutenant Lindsay a sample of the bread that they swore was not fit for hogs to eat. He left it behind having forgot it and I now send it by Capn Daly. When you can conveniently do so please send a Carpenter and a Blacksmith.
I am Dear Sir
Your Obedient Servant
M.D. McKenna
To the Honble Hugh Bell
