I think the best thing that can be done with the old Horse "Retriever" is to ship him as soon as he gets into condition and I think he would command a fair price in Halifax, on the Island he is altogether useless.

In December last I appointed Peter D Young, Foreman, but find he does not answer in that capacity. I have allowed his six months wages at the same rate as the last Foreman, whatever that was, from this time he of course [rates?] with the other men.
