Halifax, June 2, 1854

Sir,

I have it in command from His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor to inform you that the two tenders of vessels to Government for protection of the Fisheries transmitted with your letter of the 1st instant, have been this day submitted to the Lieutenant Governor in Council, and that it has been decided to accept that of Captain James Laybold, whilst a decision on that of Mess.rs Fairbanks and Allison's is postponed for the present.

I am also commanded to acquaint you, that, the Hon. Mr. Tobin, and the Hon. Mr. McNab have been appointed a Committee to confer with the Board of Works, as to the best mode of securing the service of other vessels.
