I shall hope careful and inspiring use will be made. Most of these books comprise voyages - trails, historical subjects, and such memoirs & works of utility as it was supposed would prove useful to shipwrecked persons and to the sailors serving on the Island.
These books were given me by several of my friends, and by several liberal publishers and booksellers in Boston, for the purposes to which they have been devoted.
