Halifax towit

John Mc Michael of Halifax in the county of Halifax carpenter maketh oath and saith that he was a passenger on board the Lancaster and wrecked on Sable Island and came to Halifax in the Sable Island Packets. That he Received every attention from Mr. Darby the Superintendant who Exerted himself to save the cargo and materials from the Lancaster and was vigilant in protecting the property and interest of all concerned that it was necessary to establish a watch over the property saved and Mr Darby took his turn as well as the people under his command. That Deponent has heard the affidavits of Robert Reside and George Collingham and cannot believe the allegations therein contained against Mr. Darby as his conduct was directly opposite to dishonesty and he was so careful that previous to the baggage of the passengers being shipped on board the Schooner
