Halifax 27th June 1836

Gentlemen,

As agent for the Owners of the late Brig Lancaster Stranded on Sable Island and under their authority - I beg to request you will deliver to me the materials saved from said Vessel - and I will hold myself responsible for all Salvage and other legal charges to which the Island may be entitled.

I also beg to request (under a Power of Attorney from the Captain of the Lancaster) that you will place under my care such part of the Cargo as has been saved from the Lancaster - being prepared to pay all Salvage and legal charges for saving and bringing the same to this port, which Salvage may be determined by appointment, or otherwise as you may think proper.
