Halifax 11th June 1836

Sir,

I have the honor of informing you that the Commissioners for the management of [crossed out: Sable] the affairs of Sable Island have this moment communicated to me the loss of the Brig Lancaster bound from Dublin to New York with passengers, on Sable Island, on the 21st Ulto. The vessel had on board a quantity of Whisky and Porter & the Commissioners are apprehensive of difficulty occurring if the Passengers, 65 in number are not immediately removed, as they have already been rather riotous from getting at the Liquor, there being no civil power on the Island to restrain them.
