The Commissioners have in their possession five depositions of persons of respectability and have received from Mr Darby a letter by which it fully appears that no concealment was made of the whisky left on the Island, but that the same was destroyed having been mixed with salt water and still remains for orders from the Commissioners; that George Cottingham (whose deposition was submitted to the Commissioners) is a person of bad character and after having received kind and benevolent treatment has attempted to injure the individual from whom he experienced it, because detection in theft caused a withdrawal of confidence; _ It also appears that Robert [illegible: Riside?] the Cook, has used threats towards Mr Darby
