Sir

We have the honor of acknowledging your note of this date conveying the commands of His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor to furnish you with the copy of a Letter addressed by us to The Lords Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury upon the subject of the appointment of Commissioners for Sable Mud and Seal Islands and of the proceeds of the Cargo of the American Ship Eagle. The answer thereto we respectfully submit that the Principal Officers of this Department have addressed no letter to their Lordships on the above subjects in the routine of duty they have communicated with The Honorable Board of Customs on the first subject, which letter was handed by you yesterday to His Excellency for his information, a Copy of which we will furnish if required, with regard to any information relative to the net proceeds of the American
