Halifax April 23d 1847

Sir

We have the honor to inform you that Messr.s Fairbanks & Allisons have made application to us, in behalf of Cap.n Matthewson, owner of the Sch.r Isabella lately wrecked on Sable Island, for a restoration of the materials saved from the wreck, exclusive of the usual salvage, in consideration of the owner being a poor man and his vessel uninsured.

As we do not consider ourselves authorized to use any discretionary power in the matter we have advised Mess.rs Fairbanks & Allisons to apply to His Excellency the Lieut Governor for his consent to their request, which we respectfully recommend to His Excellency's favor, being aware that the facts as stated by Mess.rs Fairbanks & Allisons are correct.
