Halifax 17th February 1847

Sir,

We have the honor to inform His Excellency the Lieut. Governor that since the third ins.t (when we had the honor to address you on the affairs of Sable Island) the Sch.r Daring has brought up the passengers of the American ship "Mila" 46 in number.

We have procured for these unfortunate people a temporary asylum and we have furnished them with the remainder of the provisions intended for their sea stores.

As these stores will shortly be exhausted, and as their present accommodation is attended with considerable expence to the Establishment under our charge; -

We beg respectfully to ask, whether it is the wish of His Excellency that these passengers should continue to be maintained in the same manner. -

We have also to state that we do not consider ourselves authorized to continue the distribution of provisions
