Halifax February 3.d 1847

Sir

We had the honor to address you on the 7th January last on the subject of the affairs of Sable Island, laying before His Excellency the lieutenant Governor, the state of the funds of that Establishment, diminished by their appropriation to other branches of the Provincial service.

Since that date the Schooner "Daring" has been dispatched to, and has returned from, Sable Island with the crews of three vessels lately wrecked there, forty four in number, forty seven passengers (Irish Emigrants,) having been left on the Island.

These persons have been maintained at the cost of the Establishment for a considerable period (some of them having been on the Island since November last) and those left behind are yet to be provided for and are a daily expence, until brought away, for which purpose, the "Daring" will be dispatched
so

[address at lower left]
The Hon.ble Sir. R.D. George
