Bark "Baticola" off the Rock and brought her to Anchor with 14 feet water in the hold. I remained by her all night and on the 12th succeeded in working her into Arichat harbour where I brought her to Anchor in safety having 15 foot water in the hold and I then delivered her over to the Captain John Beaton, and [word] [word] Eight [word] for Lloyd [illegible] stating to them at the time this Government had a clear claim for Salvage for my saving the Ship and Cargo. Since that three Magistrates of Arichat have awarded me [symbol for pounds sterling] 100 for my personal services in saving the said Ship and Cargo.
On the 20th I proceeded through the Srt of Canso and round the North side of Cape Breton, to show the Revenue Cutter on that part of the coast and to protect the Fisheries and I [resumed?] cruising on that coast until the 28th
