The Humble Petition of the late undersigned shewith, That your Petitioner was connected with Sable Island and its affairs for a period of over Forty two years in 1802 and that his father was the first man that conveyed the supplies to the Island in his own vessel which he continued to do for a number of year.
That in 1807 Your Petitioner then a youth was sent to the Island by his father to assist the Superintendant where he remained until 1811. That he subsequently Piloted the Shannon Frigate, Captain Broke and conducted her safe to Sable Island and brought away from thence the Captain Officer Crew and prisoners of H. M. Ship Barbadoes wrecked there with sixty three thousand dollars, and Captured a most troublesome Privateer call the Wily Reynard.
That in 1814 your Petitioner joined his father in the purchase of a smart Schooner named the Two Brothers for the Service of Sable Island of which he was the Master, and sailed under a protection or Convention signed by the American Government and the Government of Nova Scotia against all
