We regret that Mess.rs Creighton & Grassie have thought it necessary in this instance to complain either against the Action of the law regulating the Establishment, or the conduct of the Commissioners, and the more particularly so, as the Articles sold (comprising a mere fraction of the Cargo, actually brought their full market value. As Commissioners in whom is vested the management of the concerns of Sable Island, we conceive we are only doing our duty, to state from our own experience, the danger of any alteration in the present Law, as any departure from this present practice, would in the event of the loss of a Ship containing a general Cargo and numerous shippers, entail endless difficulties, delay and annoyance, and would ultimately lead to much loss expence & confusion in the adjusting of conflicting claims, and accounts. The law under which Sable Island is regulated, is framed without reference to other shores of the Province, and to meet the peculiar situation of that Island; without Inhabitants, where vessels in general cannot resort, and where
