Sir

We have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of 7th Nov, with copy of a letter of the dame date from the Commissioners of Sable Island.

We refrain from making further comment on that part of the Commissioners' communication which does not strictly bear upon the question at issue, as we do not wish to trouble you with matters of disputed courtesy that can be settled between ourselves -- but we shall feel obliged if you will inform us at your earliest convenience, whether the charge for Counsel's fee and commission retained by the Commissioners out
