house prepared for the reception of the Passengers - and as long as I served out the provisions and remained on the Island has his regular allowance served out to him -
-- As regards Thomas Casey - he had his allowance cooked at his own requests similar to William Heron
-- Patrick Moran made the same agreement and allowance served out to him the same
-- David Kidney - also made a similar agreement and I am aware of him having in his possession sixty Dollars. (and in his affidavit he states that he had but seven shillings and six pence in money, and he had to give his Coat for his Balance) as I passed a receipt from the Captain for Sixty Dollars belonging to him and witnessed afterwards the Captain returning it to him, when among the Breakers. which was also seen by Mr. Thomas and several others on board the Vessel - and also I am aware he sold his Coat to Governor Darby for three Dollars, as he told me personally that he did so. he also sates the he had no fresh meat while on the Island - they had fresh meat, when it could be obtained which was very frequent. as the Governor used every method to procure it.
I served out provisions, saved from the Am Schr Fulton [American Schooner Fulton] while they lasted and consider their comfort was paid greater attention to afterwards by the Governor, than they could naturally expect he serving them out sometimes with his private articles and appeared to sympathise with their misfortunes - it apparently being his whole desire to make them comfortable.
