Mr Joseph W.E. Darby of Halifax in the County of Halifax Master Mariner maketh oath and saith That in the summer?] of 1846, John Nesbitt was sent on board the Daring, Schooner under command of this deponent to be taken to Sable Island, as a hired servant of the establishment of Sable Island. That this deponent before going to Sable Island had [illegible] to trade at Sydney, Cape Breton and and while there this Deponent was obliged to confine the said John Nesbitt for drunkenness and abusive language. That this deponent was obliged to keep the said John Nesbitt in confinement while at Sydney to prevent his going on shore and getting drunk and eventually landed him at Sable Island. That on Monday the fifth of June instant the said John Nesbitt came on board the Daring at the east end of Sable Island, (when [where?] he [illegible] apart from the [illegible]
