I have not previously known Mr Darby, and I made my purchase, without exchanging any conversation with him, or without any compact or understanding either with Mr Darby, or any other person whatever. I consider the transaction one of purely a public nature, and beg distinctly to state, that in the whole transaction I have acted with perfect fairness and uprightness, and I trust no impediment will be used to prevent me from reaping any benefits, which might result to me from a purchase made in such a public manner.
