and a vessel were to be sold at auction, I attended the Sale, being myself engaged in Shipping, in the hope, that I might obtain articles which I might find useful at a cheap rate. There was a large concourse of persons present, and although I bid on several of the lots of the materials, yet, I did not become the purchaser of any of them, but on the vessel being put up, I like many others, bid for her, and although I believe the wreck was at first set up for one pound; Yet eventually it was knocked down to me at the sum of Twenty five
