I was obliged to walk off to the Eastern establishment distance about 15 miles I was 36 hours getting there laying out all night when I got there I was treated with humanity. Staid there 3 or 4 days and was brought up to the head establishment again the next day. After I got there Mr Darby gave me 1H of hard bread and 2 or 3 H of oatmeal that is all I recived for six days I was then most starved to death. The foreman Henery Moorash and David Graham once brought me two or three crumbs of hard bread in there pockets on the seventh day I was oblijed to crawl away to the Eastend establishment again to get some victuals to eat. When I got there I was almost done out with weakness and fetigue after getting refreshed and some provisions to take with me I returned again the next day. I therefore come before your Excellency with this complaint not expecting any recompence for the cruel usage I have received althou I have got a wife and small family to maintain. But hoping that your Honour will look into the diabolical proseedings and dishonesty of the present superintendant of Sable Island.
While I remain your obediant humble servant the sufferer
Robert C Nichols
