was stated by the said Superintendant, or John Henry Darby that the said sums were given to the hands ^as a compensation for extra services in taking the above mentioned fish.

And these deponents further say that in the year 1842 one lower studding-sail was sold by the Superintendant to Captain [Lorring?] of the American Schooner ["Blackwire"?].

In the year 1844 about thirty pounds of Butter was sold by the said Superintendant to the said Captain [Lorring?], then Master of the British Schooner "Union".

In the year 1845 one Barrel of Flour was sold by the said Superintendant to the said Captain [Lorring?].

In the same last mentioned year, five Barrels of Bread were sold by the said Superintendant to one Captain [Bremner?]

And in the month of October said year, two Barrels of flour were landed from the Schooner "Daring" and reshipped on board the said Schooner previous to her departure from the Island.
