James Jackson and William Myers both late of Sable Island in the Province of Nova Scotia, at present of Halifax in said Province, Yeomen, make oath and say that they have resided on the said Island for several years as hired servants of the Establishment of Sable Island under the control of Captain Darby the Superintendant thereof.

That during the last four or five years and during their residence on the said Island, the practice of selling liquors that is to say, Brandy, Rum, Gin and Wine, to the persons resident and employed on the Island as the servants of the said Establishment, has been pursued by Captain Darby the Superintendant during the first two or three years of the above stated time secretly, and during the latter portions of it openly.

That these deponents have themselves at various times during such residence as aforesaid purchased some one or other of such liquors from the said Superintendant.
