gentlemen

I received your much respected letter of the 1st of the present month with the Island Articles and I send your copy of the Journal up to the 30th of June last also enclosed is a memorandum of articles that will be wanting for the ensuing Winter
The Man [Fose?] goes off this time he has been employed here on the Island since the 30th of June last at the same rate of wages as the other Men we was one man short when I hired him and the Man Tom Myers has been sick ever since he came here last until within this last five days he has gone to work
Our life Boat has been completed for some time past and I have given W. Duchettes an order on you for [pound sterling symbol} 25 the amount you promised to assist me to build her, for which I thank you and I hope she will be an useful [ illegible] on the Establishment she is worth between [pound sterling symbol] 50 and [pound sterling symbol] 60 I have sent W. Duchette some certificate about her for your Information
