when received, to be applyed for that service, which has been approved of, and confirmed by His Excellency Sir John C. Sherbrooke, and will be carried into execution as soon as the Season and Circumstances will permit:, which, upon a calculation of the cost of materials, and the great expence of Freight to the Island, will absorb the whole; and, perhaps more. —

Ninth, The Balance of £127. remaining in the hands of the Commissioners, will immediately be called for, to pay for a supply of Provisions that must be sent to the Island, in April, there not having been for some years, more than a six months scanty allowance sent at one time, for the want of means to purchase.

Tenth, To pay the Hire of three additional hands proposed to be sent, and their Provisions for the Year, an additional sum of £150- to the £400 that has of late been only Granted, will be required: - with this additional force however, it may reasonably be hoped, that their exertions and industry rightly apply'd, may produce a greater return than has been usually had from the seal fishery; - and, instances may occurr, to obtain by salvage, a fund, to render annual calls on the liberality of the Province unnecessary. —

It may be proper finally, to remark here, that every attempt to raise Grain upon the Island towards its support, has been found unavailing. A few Potatoes, of a small size and inferior quality, are raised; and, some tolerably good vegetables; - But the want of Grain and Roots prevents the raising of Pork fit to salt for winter use, and the Stock of Cattle has been much reduced by horn distemper, so that little dependence can be had upon the Produce of the Island, towards victualling the Establishment. —
