Sable Island July 29th 1809
I take this opportunity to inform you of the situation of this Island. On the 1st of July the Brig Prince Edward of Falkirk Wm. Trotter Master was wrecked. As soon as we hear of the misfortune we repaired down with cable & horses. I gave them all the assistance we could give & we saved the articles mentioned in the inclosed inventory & they are all in good order at the west end ready for shipping at present. The Captain mate W.[McBraire?] passenger & five seamen has this day taken the long boat belonging to the wreck to proceed on their way to Halifax. Articles in the long boat belonging to the wreck three sails & rigging one cable part of a sounding [illegible] one brass compass one anchor belonging to the Island which we hope will be soon sent back being very much wanting to the [Gundaloc?]. They have left two seamen on the Island. I am happy to inform you the stock are all in good order on the Island. The Articles inclosed are very much wanting on the Island.
