The object in the Establishment of this Island, appearing to be that of rendering assistance to Vessels which may be driven on Shore, and to afford Relief to such of their Crews as may service Shipwreck -- to meet those ends it appears necessary to increase the Number of Stations or Signal Posts there being at present only that of Mr. Morris's on the West End and Hudson's on the East End of the Lake --- It is therefore proposed to add 3 in the following manner -- Ver:

One in the Centre of the Island on the North Side
One nearly opposite on the South, and
one abut 5 Miles to the eastward of Hudsons ----- To render these Posts more complete it would be necessary to furnish each with a Flagg Staff and Signal Gun.
They might be established and kept up at a moderate expense, as it would only necessary to have one Man stationed at each, but it is requisite that there should be an additional Building in the Nature of a Guard House; at the two principal Posts, on the Extremities of the Lake, as a temporary Residence for those that may be cast away, it being possible that the Crews of several Vessels may be thrown on the Island at the same Time. -- The Buildings as they now stand being only sufficient to contain the Families residing there ----

In order to give more effectual Support to this Establishment, it would be necessary to furnish a certain Proportion of Bedding and Clothing
