protect the lives and property of persons that may be so unfortunate as to be cast ashore and wreck'd upon or near the said Island. And we do [further?] each of us engage to remain upon the said Island until the end of the month of May next ensuing,or until a vessel shall arrive from Halifax, with the orders of Commissioners to relieve us, or any of us as may be inclined thereto, or that may be order'd to come away by said Commissioners. And, we do further bind and obligate ourselves, each individually, not to absent ourselves from our duty; or, in any shape to disobey the commands of the said James Morris, under the penalty of forfeiture of our wages, and such punishment as the Laws of our Country shall authorise to be inflicted and that his Certificate of our good behaviour shall entitle us to payment of the wages hereafter mentioned and agreed upon.
In consideration whereof and of the faithful discharge of the duty hereby engaged to be performed, by the before named John Hallett, Guy Morris, John Myers and Samuel Gibbons. It is on the [?] part agreed and consented to by the before named Michael Wallace for himself and the others.
