Annie writes about family concerns and asks for a new pair of "pantalets" and an apron. She mentions how soiled her aprons become while going to school, but says nothing about her studies. Annie attended the Morris Street School, 1877-79. She was a very good student and was given a book on philosophy as a prize from her teachers. The school curriculum included drawing.
