"… between the 1st day of October and 31st day of December 1833. Subject to Provincial Duties for the support of His Majestys Government, Nova Scotia." Returns such as these, examined over a number of years, help to develop a pattern of trade activity; these vessels, for example, were all entering Sydney from ports outside Nova Scotia. This document lists the vessel, master, from whence, the importer and quantities of items imported such as tobacco, sugar, household furniture, wine and rum.
