"Underground Fire Fighters - The Noon Shift"

"Albion Mine Fire, 20 June to 6 July 1913." The owners of the mine, Acadia Coal Company Limited, Stellarton, presented these photos to workers in appreciation for their "loyal efforts" during the fire. The men are identified as "Back row (L-R): Livingston; Duncan Gillis; Hoare; McIvor; Byrne. Middle row (L-R): Turnbull; F. Coronet; Lennon; W.E. Smith; C. Potts; Higgins; Haley; J.B. Coronet; Strathie; Chas. Potts; Armstrong; McDougall (overman). Front row (L-R): Hand; J. McKay; Campbell; Simpson; Brown (supt. Acadia Mine). With rail car - Mailman."
