HALIFAX, N. S.

The Premier pointed out the desirability of appointing a Commission to deal with all problems that have arisen in consequences of the disaster in the City of Halifax caused by the explosion of the munition steam ship "Mont Blanc", and as preliminary thereto of appointing a Committee of those present to confer as to the character of the Commission and the scope of its powers and duties.
On motion F. F. Mathers was appointed Secretary of the meeting.
After remarks by a number of those present, on motion it was resolved "That in the opinion of this meeting it is desirable that a permanent Commission be appointed to deal with the problems involved in connection with the recent great catastrophe which occurred in this city". The motion on being put to the meeting was carried unanimously.
On motion it was resolved that The Honourable
G. H. Murray, The Honourable G. E. Faulkner, His Worship The Mayor of Halifax, Controllers R. B. Colwell and Murphy, His Worship The Mayor of Dartmouth, Mr. H. A. Russell, Mr. H. J. Flemming, Mr. H. R. Silver, Mr. W. A. Black, be a Committee to appoint a Committee to confer as to the character of the Commission and xx the scope of its powers and duties.
On motion the meeting adjourned to meet on Friday, the 28th December, 1917, at eight o'clock P. M. in the Board of Trade Rooms.
