Morning of December 6th in office of R. S. A., Artillery Park. After explosion ran out-doors. Something whistled over his head, (probably a plate or an exploded shell). Immediately got car from Garage. Col. Almon asked to be taken to the Russell St. Arsenal , but they were warned away by a sentry, before they reached there. Col. Almon left Lieut. Finally he took a critical hospital case to the Victoria General Hospital. By this time, dressing stations had been established n on the Commons, and he worked from one of these, transferring the cases, first to the V. G. H. and when it was crowded, to Pine Hill. he took many to Pine Hill before 12 noon. He also took cases to Dr. Mader's private Hospital, Cor. Edward St. & Coburg Rd., where they had to be placed in the cellar, He put two carloads in the cellar. He carried as many as six cases at once in car. many injuries were internal rather than external. Only the critical cases were received at hospitals. One man died as he reached the door at Pine Hill. A priest rushed out to read the service over him. One woman with a compound fracture of leg, was strapped to a board. She alone was unconscious.
