Dove, Robert and Others – 1796 – Cumberland County

Names listed in the documents: Robert Dove, Hugh Pudsey, Joseph Elderkin

Petitioners are Loyalists who at the evacuation of New York came to Apple River in the Bay of Fundy, where they lived for eight years. Previous to the present war they resorted to Halifax and other places till they could raise stocks and lay in stores before returning to their lands. Other people have endeavored to get their lands, and in view of the fact that they are planning to return to their lands when they can support their families thereon, they request grants of land.
"Sir John Wentworth directs that no grants may pass for land at Apple River until the prayer of this petition is fully considered and determined upon."
