On 12 August 1885, George Hill is at Coverly House, Bridlington, Yorkshire. Hill comments on Howe's dedication to the Nova Scotia Historical Society and writes he plans to visit the War Office relative to his research on the first streets in Halifax. Nova Scotia Historical Society, "Collections", volume XV, 1911, included Hill's article "Nomenclature of the streets of Halifax".
