Upcoming Research Floor Temporary Closure

Effective Monday, November 24th, 2025, the Research Floor of the Nova Scotia Archives Building will be CLOSED until Saturday, December 6th, 2025. There will be no on-site research access during this time. This closure is required for critical building maintenance. We apologize for any inconvenience this closure may cause.

(a) Open Wednesday evening and Saturdays for self-guided research with open shelf and pre-booked materials available. Researchers have access to:

• all open shelf microfilm holdings
• all open-shelf library holdings
• all finding aids and card catalogues
• extensive resource tools which include select digitized maps and photograph holdings
• pre-booked archival and library materials

In order to pre-book materials for use on Wednesday evening or Saturday, researchers must leave a request slip for the required material at the third floor reference desk before 3:00 pm Wednesday for Wednesday evening use and before 3:00 pm on Friday for Saturday use. Requests may also be submitted via e-mail at archivesnovascotia.ca or phone 902-424-6060. The full call number and/or reference code is required to pre-book material.

(b) Please note a delayed opening on the first Thursday of each month. The Archives will open to researchers at 12:00 pm noon.

(c) Closed on Sundays, Statutory Holidays, and Holiday Weekends. Researchers and visitors are advised to consult the Holiday Schedule to confirm Statutory Holidays observed in Nova Scotia.
