This fold-out souvenir guide contains 29 images of the City of Halifax. Souvenir guides such as this were common in the nineteenth century and were produced in many styles and formats, from individual postcards to booklets with pictures and text. Published for and to promote the early tourist trade, they usually extolled the virtues of a particular city or town. They helped create civic pride and were also used to attract trade and industry to the community.
