Nova Scotia. Workers' Compensation Appeal Board
The Workmen's Compensation Appeal Board was established in 1975 to hear appeals from decisions of the Workers' Compensation Board. Its rulings in matters of fact were final; its decisions in matters of law were appealable to the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal. In 1979 its name was changed to Workers' Compensation Appeal Board. In 1996 the board was superseded by the Workers Compensation Appeals Tribunal of which the chief appeal commissioner had to be a practising lawyer.
