The Advisory Commission on AIDS was established in 1988 with a view to implementing the recommendations of the Nova Scotia Task Force on AIDS, which reported later the same year. The commission is a coordinating mechanism for the fight against the acquired immune deficiency syndrome and advises the government on issues relating to AIDS and its impact on society.
