Tourism Nova Scotia was established as a Crown corporation in 2015. It replaced the Nova Scotia Tourism Agency, which had been established as a special operating agency, responsible to the minister of economic and rural development, in 2011. The objects of Tourism Nova Scotia are to achieve tourism growth in the province and maximize the value of tourism to the economy; develop a long-term tourism strategy; and communicate and collaborate with communities, private industry and the tourism industry in the province. The minister of business assumed responsibility for the Tourism Nova Scotia Act.
