I do certify that the above persons was landed at the Ferry Wharf Dartmouth after the Establishment of the Black at Melville Island was done away by order of the late Govr Sir John G Sherbrooke, and finding [their] People destitute & unable to move their families;- to prevent their Suffering I did authorize Mr. Crain to perform the above Service and to prevent their perishing a sick family of the Blacks were furnished with fuel & Necessaries as above States which Service I [considered] myself authorised to require under the authority of His Excelly. the Commander in Chief.
