Preston 26th August 1816

Sir

Encouraged by repeated instances of your goodness I presume
oncemore to request your attention to my accounts for the Black Settling here.

Enclosed herewith are Coppy's of all my accounts of truckage & c of
Provisions for the refugee Negroes Settling at Preston by which you
will see that my present accounts in larger then either of the former an explanation of the reason of this may be required at his Majesty's Council when I may not be at hand to give it. - Through my ignorance of the periods of time for which public accounts are made out, my first account which commenced October 3rd was made to the 27th December containing twelve weeks [issuing]. And the second to the 27th March thirteen weeks which appears by the enclosed papers N II V II exact coppys of my accounts presented at the Customhouse from which both the accounts that have been paid me were made out. It was not until last month the Clark of the Customhouse who Coppied my account informed me that the accounts were to be made out to the 26th July - From this misunderstanding it happens that my present account made to the 26th July Viz the paper No. III contains in fact the whole charge of truckage from 27th March to the 26th July a period of four Months instead of
