Know all men by these presents the we Lewis de Mollitor of Halifax in the Province of Nova Scotia Merchant, Wm A Black of the same place Merchant John Clark of the same place Merchant are [held?] and firmly bound to the Honorable Thomas N. Jeffery Collector of His Majesty's Customs at Halifax in the [pen???] Sum of three thousand pounds of lawful money of [Nova?] Scotia to be paid to the said Thomas N Jeffery or his Deputy or Successor in Office: for which payment to be [?] well and truly made we bind ourselves and each of [us?] by himself over and each of our heirs executors and [Adminis]trators firmly by these presents sealed with our seals dated [in?] Halfiax this sixteenth day of December in the year of [our] Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen.
Whereas the above bounden Lewis De Mo[litor] in and by a certain Contract or Indenture hereunto annexed bearing [?] date with these presents made and entered into with the said Thomas [N.] Jeffery on the part and behalf of our Sovereign Lord the King hath [pro]mised and agreed to provide and supply the Blacks and People [of] Colour in health now resident or who may hearafter be resident upon Melville for a certain Term at certain Rates and in the manner [to per?]form therein mentioned and specified as reference thereto being had [will?] Now the Condition of the above Obligation is such that if the above [bound?] Lewis de Mollitor do and shall in all things on his part and behalf [perform?] and fulfil the aforesaid contract and agreement and every matter and every [???] therein contained then the above Obligation to be null and void otherwise remain in full force and effect.
