July 1816
This indenture made this second day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixteen, between John Bazalgette Esq, a Captain in the 98th Reg't, now resident in Halifax, Nova Scotia, of the one part, and John Francklin, a blackman, of the other part, witnesseth that the said John Bazalgette for and in consideration of the sents Covenants and agreements herein after reserved and contained and which by and on the part and behalf of the said John Franklin, are to be paid kept done and performed, He, the said John Bazalgette hath demised, leased, let, and to farm let, and by these presents doth demise lease, Set and to farm let unto the said John Franklin, a certain Lot, That piece, or parcel of land Situate, lying, and being on Beaver Bank, in the County of Hants abutted & bounded as follows [illegible]: beginning at the South East angle of lands granted to John Rule thence to run North 30 degrees: West, 16 chains or till it meets the river, thence down stream along the margin of the river eighteen chains in a eight Line, thence South 30 degrees: East, 16 Chains on till it meets the division line of lands granted to Robert Fletcher, from thence along the said line to the place of beginning, The above described lot containing twenty seven acres more a [lep?], agreatly to the plan [herecents?] annexed, as on be fience being thereunts had, will more fully appear together with all and singular, the Buildings, mays, waters, watercomeses, easements, Communities and appartenances to the said lot of land hereby demised belonging or in any ways appertaining, To Have and to Hold the said lot of Land and premises with the appartenances unts the said John Francklin from the day of the date hereof, for and during the full term of twenty years and from thence for and during the natural Life of the said John Francklin, He yeilding and paying therefor upon the first day
