Halifax Nova Scotia 30 March 1816
I acknowledge to have Received from His Excellency Sir, I. C. Sherbrooke G.C.B. the above Specified Bills of Exchange, Amounting to One thousand, one hundred and ninety three Pounds nine Shillings Sterling Equal to One thousand three hundred, and twenty six Pounds, one Shilling and One Penny Currency, for which I have Signed Duplicate Receipts of this [liner?], and date.

By His Excellency Lieutenant General Sir John C. Sherbrooke Knights Hand Cross of the Most Honourable Military Order of the Bath Lieutenant Governor & commander in Chief in & over His Majesty's Province of Nova Scotia & its Independencies vice admiral of the same etc. etc. etc.
It is hereby Certified that the paper hereto annexed Marked [A] is the original Abstract of the accounts & vouchers Exhibited by [crossed out: the Deputy Collector of His Majesty's Customs] [Ruhend Inglis?] at Halifax for the expenses incurred [crossed out: in] providing for Refugee Negroes between the [crossed out: 27th] 1st day of [crossed out: October 1815] June and the [crossed out 26th January 1816] 31 day of August 1817 inclusive [crossed out: amounting] to [crossed out: one thousand one hundred and fifty three pounds one Shilling & eleven pence Sterling] £566.8.5 1/4. which accounts were this day examined and passed in Council in Halifax to discharge which accounts I have drawn [crossed out: four setts of Bills of Exchange] amounts which the Deputy Commissiary [word?] Halifax as stated in the annexed abstract.
Given under my Hand & Seal at Arms at Halifax this 6th day of April 1816 in the 36th year of His Majesty's Reign -
